Kyrgios breezes past Jaziri in title defense bidding

Nick Kyrgios had an authoritative start of his Marseille campaign after he defeated Malek Jaziri 6-4 6-2 in his opener.

The Australian was looking forward to playing in France especially after an extremely disappointing Australian Open where he crashed in the second round at the hands of Andreas Seppi after he was two sets up.

Kyrgios defeated the Tunisian without conceding a single break point after scoring 60 points vs. Jaziri’s 38. The contest lasted only 58 minutes.

I am happy to be back. KYRGIOS

Nick conceded that he was adamant to play I Marseille, to comment

“I had a tough Australian Open, so I was looking forward to coming back here. It’s where I won my first ATP World Tour title, and I have great memories from this court. The crowd is always great, I love playing in Marseille, so I’m happy to be back.”

Nick will have a seemingly easy task in the quarters to play either Mahut (world no.54) or Gombos (no.128).
