A not-so-perfect Vika managed again win against the new world nr.3
This time the match could have been trickier for Vika because Agnieszka’s “magic” tennis could have benefited from the blue clay.
But once again that was not the case. Both players were a bit wobbling on their service games. In the first set Vika broke her opponent 3 times on 3 break points to be broken “only” once. Vika’s major weapon was her return on the Pole’s second serve that was far too soft (Agnieszka won only 20% of the points on her second serve in the first set).
The second part of the second set was a bit of a drama with both players unable to capitalize on their service and Vika choking a bit at the end. Finally after an array of breaks (5), Vika held her service game when she was 5-4 up to win the match 6-2 6-4.
“I’m really happy. All the top players are here and I’m in the final and looking forward to it,” said Vika. “[Radwanska and I] keep meeting each other. I’m glad to win today. The score maybe wasn’t so close, but it was a good match.”
This was her 5 consecutive win over Radwanska and now she will likely contend the title with Serena (if Hredacka agrees…)
