ATP RANKINGS. Kyrgios, Tsitsipas, Auger Aliassime up. Zverev down

Nick Kyrgios is the big winner in the rankings after his fabulous title in Washington

Nick Kyrgios won a rather eventful title in Washington to surprise soon after when he confessed that he wants to be a “new player” to even follow some routines. That worked pretty well for the Australian also in terms of rankings as he went up 25 places in the rankings to be the new world no.27 after his feat in the US. Even more interesting, the 24-year-old is now ranked no.18 in the year to date rankings to have a shot at the ATP Finals if he keeps on playing as he did in DC.

Tsitsipas

Stefanos reached the semifinal in Washington so as not to add or lose any point since this was the same result he had last year. However, thanks to the fact that Sascha Zverev didn’t defend his title at the Citi Open, the Greek goes up 1 place in the rankings to be the new world no.5 (career-high).

Zverev

As mentioned, Sascha decided not to defend his title at the Citi Open as he felt the organization was not very “interested” in him. Instead, the German decided to play in the home tournament in Hamburg in the previous week where he lost in the semifinal to Nikoloz Basilashvili. The German lost 410 points for not playing in DC to go down 2 places in the rankings and be the new world no.7.

Auger Aliassime

Felix lost in the 3rd round in Washington to an in-form Marin Cilic. However, this was enough for him to go 1place up in the rankings and be the new world no.21 (career-high).

Here the top 20.
