Roger Federer has always been a fan of Nick Kyrgios even if the Australian has often crossed the line with his peculiar character.
The Swiss Maestro is now in Perth where he will participate in the Hopman Cup, and he has been asked his opinion about Nick Kyrgios. Roger is quite upbeat about Nick’s future, and he thinks he can achieve an important milestone in 2017.
Kyrgios will break in the top10 in 2017, if… FEDERER
During a recent interview, Roger commented
“I don’t think he will come to me [for reccomandations]. I’ve passed on what I think. I speak always very highly about Nick, he knows he needs to clean up his act sometimes. But at the same time he also knows that I like that he shows character and that he shows who he is sometimes.
He’s always going to make mistakes because he’s very explosive in character and that’s OK as long as he doesn’t cross the line too often. I think he knows what he’s got to work on and then he’s just got to be passionate about the game because a lot of people would die to be in his position so I hope he’s aware of that.
If he can be injury free and have a full year, I’d say he’s probably going to crack the top 10. I think he won already three tournaments in 2016 so that’s already a big deal. His ranking is lower than maybe it could or should be.
I am a big fan of his game. He came to Zurich in Switzerland and trained with me before he had his big breakthrough when he beat Rafa (Nadal) at Wimbledon. I think he’s going to be extremely hard to beat at the Australian Open. He’s just got that kind of game. He’s a big match player so I think it will be big for him to start also well in Australia and have a good season after that.”
Roger is currently ranked no.16 while Nick is no.13. We would love to see them both in the top10 very soon.
