Djokovic demolishes unprepared Nishikori

The crowd in London had to witness two completely different semifinals. The first one between Murray and Raonic was a 3 hours and 38 minutes’ marathon; the second one between Djokovic and Nishikori was a 69 minutes’ onslaught. The Japanese was completely unprepared from a physical point of view probably because his body couldn’t stand the previous two matches against Murray and Cilic that ended in 3 sets.

Kei was never in the match to concede Novak a 4-0 lead in both sets. The final result was a grim 6-1 6-1.

I wasn’t prepared. NISHIKORI

After the interview, Kei commented

“Today I think Novak played pretty awesome. There’s nothing I can complain about. Physically, I just wasn’t ready to play against Novak.”

I am blessed of being part of history. DJOKOVIC

After the match, Nole released his impressions about the upcoming final

“I’m really privileged to be a part of history on Sunday,” he commented. “We’ve known each other for so many years. This is maybe one of the biggest matches we will ever play, so let’s enjoy it.”

Head to head

Novak and Andy will play for the title and the world no.1 rank. The head to head is 24-10 for the Serb that has won 13 of the last 15 matches, and he leads Murray 4-0 on indoor hard courts.

Giving the circumstances, it will be a tough one to win for Murray also because Djokovic spent just 69 minutes on court in the semifinal against Nishikori.
