Karolina Pliskova upsets Serena Williams at the US Open! The Czech played a great match to beat Serena 6-2 7-6 (5) in 85 minutes.
On one side, Pliskova was playing a really good tennis. She was always on top with her serve to strike seven aces and win 84% of the points on her first serve. On the other side, Serena wasn’t moving as fast as she is used to be as she was struggling with a problem to her left knee.

After the match, Serena confirmed her problem to comment
“I have been having some serious left knee problems. I wasn’t tired. Fatigue had absolutely nothing to do with it. If I was tired I should definitely get into a new career.”

Karolina was well aware she had to keep her focus until the end of the match to comment
“I don’t believe it. I knew I had the chance to beat anyone if I played my game. I am excited to be in the final and to beat Serena as she is such a great champion.
Even when she was down a set and break she was still fighting. I had to fight hard to win.”
The final vs. Kerber
Karolina will face the new world no.1 Angelique Kerber in the final.
The head to head is 4-3 for the German, but Karolina has recently trashed Angelique in the Cincinnati final 6-3 6-1.
