Andy Roddick claims that Carlos Alcaraz offers a special challenge for the Italian, even though Jannik Sinner is currently the top tennis player.

Amid recent accusations of doping during the season that tried to ruin him, the 42-year-old praised the world No. 1’s ability to perform under pressure and correct the record in the most recent episode of ‘Served with Andy Roddick’.

Despite this, Roddick still believes Sinner has a legitimate opponent in Alcaraz, with the American stating that although he is currently the best player overall, Alcaraz’s supremacy on clay and grass cannot be understated.

Roddick stated that, in his opinion, Alcaraz continues to be Sinner’s most difficult test while on tour, even though this is already well known.

Roddick talked about it and said: “He set the record in Turin—the least amount of games ever lost in a world tour final. Putting beatdowns on the best players in the world at the end of the season, all while having this case over his head. I mean running out of superlatives.”

He added: “He is the best player in the world when there is not something slippery under his feat, and I don’t know it’s up for question at this point. Clay is obviously very different; the grass is very different. Carlos Alcaraz has risen on those things; Carlos didn’t play a full season, he was injured a bunch of the times, and we are gonna go a lot more in those matchups over time. He does have the game that bothers Sinner more than anyone else on planet Earth at this current moment.”
