Jannik Sinner close to an ATP Finals success that Djokovic and Federer have not achieved

Jannik Sinner has already played and won ten sets at the 2024 ATP Finals in Turin. The Italian is now just two sets away from becoming the first person since Ivan Lendl in 1986 to win the ATP season-ending tournament without losing a set.

Sinner Pumped Up

At the 2024 ATP Finals in Turin, Jannik Sinner has already played ten sets and won each one.

The Italian player is now only two sets away from becoming the first man to win the ATP season-ending tournament without dropping a set since Ivan Lendl in 1986.

Despite winning numerous ATP Finals titles, tennis greats Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Pete Sampras were unable to win a championship without dropping a set.

Last year, Djokovic defeated Sinner in straight sets in the final to win a record-breaking seventh title, but he lost three sets in the group stage. The Serbian advanced to the 2018 ATP Finals final without dropping a set, but Alexander Zverev defeated him 6-4, 6-3.

However, after defeating Casper Ruud in the semifinal to advance to back-to-back finals in Turin, Sinner can now set a record that eluded the three greats. He won 6-1, 6-2 in 70 minutes to secure his fourth straight-set victory at the Inalpi Arena.

Sinner recently said at the ATP Finals: “It’s a very similar circumstance to last year as we have already played in the round-robin. I just try to play the best I can tomorrow. From last year to now I feel I have more experience and have grown as a player. Hopefully, it will be a good day after a very positive week and a very positive year.”

With one loss coming against Carlos Alcaraz in the China Open final, Sinner has won 25 of his last 26 games and will enter Sunday’s final on a 10-match winning streak.
