Andy Roddick released a hasty version of his hugely popular podcast after one of his main contributors became embroiled in a major controversy due to remarks he made while working for The Tennis Channel.

During the Tennis Channel’s preview of Barbora Krejcikova’s matchup with Zheng Qinwen in the semi-finals of the season-ending tournament in Riyadh, journalist Jon Wertheim made the regrettable remarks.

Wertheim was quick to post an apology as he wrote: “During a Tennis Channel studio show on Friday, I made some deeply regrettable comments off-air. I acknowledge them. I apologise for this. I reached out immediately and apologised to the player. I realise: I know I am not the victim here. It was neither professional nor charitable of the person I strive to be. I am accountable. I own this. I am sorry.”

Since The Tennis Channel announced that Wertheim would be permanently removed from their guest list, the story has taken a significant turn.

Wertheim personally apologized to Krejcikova once more in a social media post that Roddick and the Serve podcast team shared on their platforms. Roddick claimed that his colleague had stepped in s*** with his remarks.

Roddick said: “If you are a listener of the show, we pride ourselves on leading into uncomfortable topics in tennis. That doesn’t end when it’s one of us. Our good friend, my co-host, my partner-in-crime Jon Wertheim, said something on a hot mic. No one was aware they were on a hot mic. I know he is as a person. I also know he stepped in s***. I said we have to come on and acknowledge it, even when it’s not comfortable.”
