Zverev Talks

After his recent victory, Alexander Zverev discussed his thoughts on the emergence of young tennis players Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, as well as his own place in the next generation of players.

The sport of tennis is constantly changing. Players are raising their game as a result of new developments and technologies that are raising the bar every day. Young talent and new ideas are constantly changing the sport, and only those who can adjust will be able to stay at the top in this fast-paced environment.

Stefanos Tsitsipas referred to the German player as the most improved player after their Paris Masters match. The reporter asked Zverev about it during the post-match interview.

Zverev replied: “That’s a big compliment for me from his side. So thank you to him for that.”

But Zverev also made note of the fact that others are also making progress. He made a quick reference to Sinner, praising the Italian’s remarkable development this season. He said: “I think Jannik Sinner has something to say against that.”

He then underlined how the sport usually requires ongoing development, particularly as athletes like Alcaraz and Sinner raise the standard with their aggression and speed.

He added: “Tennis doesn’t stop. You see by how Jannik and Carlos are playing right now, tennis is becoming so fast and so aggressive. You need to find ways to improve your game.”

Zverev finds motivation from the challenges presented by up-and-coming talents like Sinner and Alcaraz. Their developments continue to challenge him to improve his abilities. Zverev went into further detail in the interview about whether these two tennis stars could become as successful as the Big Three.
