This season, Jannik Sinner has dominated the tennis scene with seven titles, including two Grand Slams, and made a lasting impression at exhibition events such as the Six Kings Slam. However, his recent remark regarding that enormous tournament payout is what people are talking about, not just his winning streak. Following the fervour among fans, Alexander Bublik has now replied in with what appears to be a clever jab at the Italian celebrity.
Bublik was questioned about his wins this year during the most recent interview. According to ATP Tour.com, Bublik has a 25–25 win-loss record this season and has earned $1,481,159 from his wins. However, the Kazhak player quickly responded to this query by making a subtle jab at Sinner.
Speaking in the interview, Bublik responded: “Like Jannik Sinner said, money is not the thing.”
Keep in mind that this comes after the Italian magnate revealed his $6 million victory at the exhibition event in Riyadh.
Sinner said earlier in an interview: “I don’t play for money. It’s very simple. Of course, it’s a nice prize and everything. For me, I went there because there were possibly the six best players in the world, and then you can measure yourself with them. And it was also a nice event for me. The money is important, but not that much.”
However, the main reason Sinner’s statement has been criticized is because the ATP has not formally recognized the tournament, which has no points. However, Bublik appears to be the only one making disparaging remarks about Sinner, as a number of other people also seem to be doing the same.
