Carlos Alcaraz recently had the unique opportunity to train alongside his childhood idol, Roger Federer, in Shanghai, describing the experience as nothing short of a dream. Although no videos emerged from the private practice session, Alcaraz expressed awe over Federer’s undiminished talent and elegance on the court, even in retirement.
“It was an incredible experience,” Alcaraz said, adding, “I enjoyed every hit very much, and it was a dream to see the ease he still has in playing.”
More than just a casual hit, the session proved educational for Alcaraz, who absorbed insights from the legendary Swiss maestro.
“I spoke a lot with him and asked him various things about the game. Honestly, he gave me a masterclass,” Alcaraz admitted.
This unique opportunity allowed Alcaraz to gain wisdom from Federer, one of tennis’s all-time greats, an experience he’ll likely carry forward into his own career as he builds on an already impressive rise in the sport.
