It’s Serena no.22!
The American makes history once again after winning her 22nd slam in Wimbledon. This title came after an extremely successful ride. in the last 2 weeks, Serena dropped just one set in the 2nd round against Christina McHale; after that, Serena was practically untroubled.
The final
The world no.1 was always in control of the final even if Angelique Kerber was playing a magnificent tennis. Serena has conceded just a break point in the 7th game of the 2nd set; the American saved that break point with to back to back aces to save the break point and take up the in the game. After holding serve (4-3), Serena conquered the decisive break in the following game (5-3) to seal the match soon after. Serena won the match 7-5 6-3.
22nd slam
After this triumph, Serena has won 22 slams to equal Steffi Graf. Serena is just two slams shy from Margaret Court (24). She definitely has a shot at that.

From Serena
The American vented the frustration she had for failing to win the Australian Open and the Roland Garros (she lost in the final on both occasions) “It’s been incredibly difficult not to think about it. I had a couple of tries this year, and I lost to two incredible opponents – one of them being Angelique! But it makes the victory even sweeter, to know how hard I’ve worked for it.”
Well done Serena. KERBER
Angelique was still happy with the outcome of her fortnight and the fact that she was able to reach the final “I just want to say really congrats to Serena. You really deserve the title, your next title. You’re a great champion and a great person. It’s always an honor to play against you in the final. We played a great match – really, congrats! You deserve it. Well done Serena.”
