Kerber to play Serena Williams in the Wimbledon final

Angelique Kerber shocked the tennis world when she has won the Australian Open last January after defeating Serena Williams in a passionate three setter. The German has now the opportunity to repeat herself in Wimbledon where she has reached the final without dropping a single set.

Angelique has defeated (a flat) Venus Williams in the semifinal 6-4 6-4 after 73 minutes.

It’s a completely new challenge. KERBER

Talking about the final against Serena and a comparison with the one she has played at the Australian Open, Angelique commented “It’s a completely new tournament, a new surface, everything is completely new. She lost a final against me, so I know she will go out and try everything to beat me.

“I will just try to go out there like in Australia, trying to show her, okay, I’m here to win the match, as well. I know that I have to play my best tennis to beat her in the final here.”

Head to head

Serena and have played each other seven times. The head to head is 5-2 for the American. This will be the first encounter on grass.
