Paul Annacone acknowledges that Jannik Sinner recently said something he truly adores

Jannik Sinner's views on the tennis schedule controversy served as an inspiration for Paul Annacone. Some players on the ATP and WTA Tours have expressed their dissatisfaction with the volume of events played in a short amount of time during their hectic 2024 season.

Paul Annacone was inspired by Jannik Sinner’s opinions on the tennis schedule controversy. The ATP and WTA Tour players have had a busy season in 2024, and some have voiced their displeasure over the number of events that were played in a short period of time.

The Olympic Games in Paris have already added to a busy summer that included the US Open, Wimbledon, and the French Open. Sinner adopted a different tack when some complained about the demanding schedule, which Annacone found appealing.

Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, and Jack Draper, among others, have expressed their displeasure with the schedule, but Sinner asserted that his peers should simply select which events they participate in if they so choose.

Annacone, Roger Federer’s former coach, was pleased by these remarks, but he also understood that some people might not agree with the Italian.

Annacone talked about it and said: “One thing I loved what Jannik Sinner saying that it’s a lot of tennis, there’s a lot of tournaments, but if you don’t want to play, don’t play. It’s easier when you are number one in the world, obviously, but if you are right around the cusp of making year-end championships or meeting commitments in terms of team sponsorship partnerships it’s very difficult to figure out when not to play. It’s not as cut and dry as if you don’t want to play, don’t play, but the structure is really fractured and always has been.”
