Ben Shelton is undoubtedly an entertaining tennis player, but occasionally his drive to win hinders his ability to advance in competitions.
It’s unfortunate because this 22-year-old has a lot of talent at his disposal. However, his youth is a strength, and he has plenty of time to develop into the serious candidate that many think he can be. All things considered, though, competition is only getting stronger.
The American player recently aimed to evaluate the current status of the men’s tour while complimenting top players Carlos Alcaraz and Grigor Dimitrov in an interview with Sky Sports earlier today.
When asked which players he preferred to watch, he gave Carlos Alcaraz special praise, but he also offered a somewhat unexpected substitute for the Spaniard.
He expressed his remarks about Alcaraz and Dimitrov and said: “I love watching Alcaraz and I love watching Grigor Dimitrov. I’d say those two are my two favourites. Alcaraz is a great athlete, can hit every shot in the book, entertains the crowd and always has a smile on his face. He is a personality on the court, that is what I like to watch and he gives me that fix of seeing an entertainer but someone who also plays the game at the highest level.”
He added: “Grigor plays the game so beautifully. I think that a lot of what he does is similar to what Roger used to do. Perfect technique, slice, then serve. He is technically sound on every shot, so that is why I adore watching him.”
