After Carlos Alcaraz defeated his bitter rival Jannik Sinner in the 2024 China Open final, Paula Badosa recently showered the Spaniard with praise. In the tiebreaker that decided the match, the Spaniard rallied from a 0-3 deficit to win 6-7(6), 6-4, 7-6(3).

Badosa is competing in the WTA 1000 event in Beijing, where she has won her last four matches without dropping a set, and has advanced to the quarterfinals.

The world No. 19 discussed her thoughts on fellow Spaniard Alcaraz’s character and how he motivates her with the media on Thursday, October 3, after winning in the quarterfinals against local favourite Zhang Shuai.

Badosa went on to say that she was one of his biggest fans after admitting that she had watched the whole Beijing title match.

Badosa expressed her thoughts about it and said: “I’m inspired by Carlos. He’s great, on and off the court. He’s an amazing person; he’s an amazing player. I was watching the whole match yesterday; I was cheering for him. He makes the whole country proud, and, honestly, I’m a big fan of him.”
