Carlos Alcaraz opened up further about the emotional connection he shares with his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, after his victory in Beijing. Reflecting on Ferrero’s tears following the win, Alcaraz spoke candidly about the tough times they had endured together, saying it wasn’t just the physical grind of competition but also emotional challenges that made the moment so meaningful.

“I think he got emotional because we’ve been through a lot these past couple of months,” Alcaraz said. “It’s been difficult, not just on the court but off it as well. I was struggling a bit mentally, especially after the American swing. There were moments when I just didn’t want to pick up a racquet.”

Alcaraz credited Ferrero and his support team for helping him regain his motivation and passion for the game. “Thanks to them, I got the joy back for playing matches, for practicing again. They helped me stay motivated, and I really wanted to travel and compete once more,” he added.

Their journey together clearly built a strong bond, and Alcaraz’s win felt like a shared triumph, making Ferrero’s emotional reaction all the more powerful.
