Fritz talks about the positive and negative aspects of reaching the US Open final

Tennis players frequently find it difficult to get used to competing in their first major championship match, but Fritz insisted he wasn't excessively stressed. Fritz recently talked about the benefits and drawbacks of reaching the US Open final.

Fritz Talking

Before the U.S. Open final, Taylor Fritz was full of excitement, thinking about his first Grand Slam victory and the first for an American man since Andy Roddick won the trophy in Arthur Ashe Stadium in 2003.

Fritz didn’t play his best tennis until the third set, and even then, it was only for a short while. Of course, that had something to do with the 23-year-old Italian top-ranked Jannik Sinner, who defeated the 12th-seeded Fritz 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 to take the title.

Earlier, Fritz talked about his excitement to play in the US Open final and said: “Just kind of walking on the court, and just hearing the crowd go crazy, and just kind of soaking in the moment of, ‘I’m walking out to play my match on Ashe in the U.S. Open finals,’ is what I dreamed about my whole life. It almost got me emotional, but I was just really happy and ready to enjoy the moment.”

Tennis players often find it difficult to adjust to playing in their first major title match, but Fritz claimed he wasn’t unnecessarily nervous and that he actually expected to perform better right away.

However, Fritz has recently discussed the positives and negatives of making it to the US Open final.

He talked about it and said: “There’s a lot of positives, but I don’t think the disappointment will ever necessarily go away. It’s not disappointment about losing; it’s disappointment about just believing or wishing that I would’ve just played a better match if I lost.”
