Murray beats Gasquet to reach the French Open semifinal

Andy Murray had to battle for two sets against Richard Gasquet in the French Open quarter-final; then life was easy. The Scotsman squandered a 5-2 lead in the 1st and the 2nd set; Murray lost the opener after losing five consecutive games, but he managed to win the second set at the breaker after trailing on a 1-3score-line. The Frenchman imploded in the following two sets, and a very consistent Murray won the match 5-7 7-6 (3) 6-0 6-2.

Murray. The second set tiebreak was key

Andy managed to reverse a 1-3 deficit in the second set tiebreak to play an incredible tennis and win five consecutive games. That was the key moment of the match for the world no.2 “That stretch of five or six points was huge from 1-3.Those points changed the match. Obviously, the match could have been more comfortable had I done better serving out the first two sets. But, aside from that, I was playing some good stuff. I finished the match extremely well, I think. It wasn’t easy for me today.”

The semifinal vs. Wawrinka

Murray will play Stan Wawrinka in the semifinal. The head to head is 8-7 for Murray, but Wawrinka leads 3-0 on clay, and he has won their last three matches without conceding a single set.
