The past few months have been quite the journey for Jannik Sinner, who won the US Open due to it. In the aftermath of his US Open victory, Sinner referred to Roger Federer as the greatest player of all time, and the Italian is now hoping to emulate him in terms of Grand Slam achievements.
Before the US Open, Sinner broke up with Naldi and coach Umberto Ferrara. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player will now replace the latter with Marco Panichi.
According to the newspaper, Sinner will formally announce the appointment shortly. Panichi was Novak Djokovic’s athletic trainer in the past. Before the Grand Slam, he appeared to be unaffected by the significant distraction and won his first US Open championship with ease.
Now, an interesting development appears to be unfolding in the shape of Panichi, Djokovic’s former teammate, who, considering what the Serbian has accomplished over the years, should help Sinner elevate his game.

WWWLWWWWWW Currently the world no.1, Sinner played his last match on the 8th of September when he overcame world no.7 Taylor Fritz 6-3 6-4 7-5 in the final of the U.S. Open to win his 17th career title.
Until now, during this year the Italian achieved a composed 55-5 win-loss record. The Italian conquered 6 titles in 2024 at the Australian Open, Rotterdam, Miami, Halle, Cincinnati and U.S. Open.
Sinner is scheduled to compete next in Beijing (China Open). He will begin to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 23rd of September.
Novak Djokovic in 2024
WWWWLWWWWW Currently the world no.4, Novak played his last match on the 30th of August when he lost to world no.24 Alexei Popyrin 6-4 6-4 2-6 6-4 in the 3rd round of the U.S. Open (draw).
During this season Novak has managed to achieve a 31-8 match record. Novak has won 1 title in Paris. The Serbian was the finalist in Wimbledon.
He is also scheduled to play in Shanghai (Shanghai Rolex Masters) on the 2nd of October and Paris (Rolex Paris Masters) on the 28th of October.
Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic played each other 7 times. Their actual head to head record is 4-3 for Djokovic. Before, the last time they locked horns, Jannik Sinner won 6-1 6-2 6-7(6) 6-3 in the semifinal in Melbourne (Australian Open) on the 26th of January 2024.
