Novak Djokovic lauds Sabalenka, Sinner and Fritz in his Instagram stories

Novak Djokovic showed class by praising three US Open stars in public. Djokovic didn't have the most successful Grand Slam of the year, but he was still attempting to hold Margaret Court's record for the most major singles titles.

Djokovic Waves Hands

By publicly praising three US Open stars, Novak Djokovic demonstrated his class. Djokovic, who was once again trying to keep Margaret Court for the most major singles titles, didn’t have the most successful Grand Slam of the year.

He was unable to increase his record to twenty-four, however, as he was shocked to lose to Australian 28th seed Alexei Popyrin in the third round. Even so, that didn’t stop him from encouraging people who had won far more championships.

In his absence, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner defeated American Taylor Fritz in the men’s final; Djokovic sent a message to both players and women’s champion Aryna Sabalenka.

The 37-year-old posted three stories to his Instagram page. The first featured a video of Sabalenka celebrating her victory over Jessica Pegula on Saturday by posing her hands like a tiger’s paw.

He wrote: “Congratulations, tigress.”

Then, in native Italian, Djokovic captioned a photo of Sinner holding the trophy. He wrote: “Congratulazioni.”

Djokovic also shared words for Fritz and wrote: “Well done on a great tournament and first Grand Slam final.”
