It’s Roger Federer, not Rafael Nadal that will be seeded no.2 in Wimbledon to give a clear advantage to the Swiss that may avoid the Mallorcan if Rafa will not fall in his half and he is sure he won’t face Novak Djokovic unless he reaches the final.
Wimbledon’s formula in choosing the seeding
Wimbledon has it’s own seeding system that takes into account not only the official rankings but also the performance of the players on grass.
The formula considers
- the ATP Ranking points at 24 June 2019
- 100% of the points earned for all grass court tournaments in the immediate past 12 months period prior to 24 June 2019 are added
- 75% of the points earned for the best grass court tournament in the 12 months prior to that are the last addition
After this reshuffle besides Federer getting the 2nd place, Anderson will be seeded no4 eve if he is ranked no.8, Cilic goes up 4 places (from 17 to 13) and Simon will be seeded 20 instead of being seeded no.25
