Marketa Vondrousova, Bianca Andreescu, and Amanda Anisimova are still the leaders of the young generation in the WTA ranking.
Marketa Vondrousova
The 19-year-old hasn’t played a match since she lost in the final at the French Open. However, she managed to keep her world no.16 rank even if she didn’t compete for the last 2 weeks.
Bianca Andreescu
After her stellar start of her season and the title in Indian Wells, Bianca was sidelined by an injury to her shoulder. After she retired in the 4th round in Miami, Bianca skipped the entire clay court season with the exception of the French Open where she played only 1 match before conceding a walkover in the 2nd round. Even if Bianca is seeded in Wimbledon (25) she is widely expected to withdraw. The Canadian lost 1 place in the rankings this week to be the new world no.25.
Amanda Anisimova
The 17-year-old from the US seems to be on the verge of a major breakthrough. After reaching the semifinal in Paris, the American went back to competitions in Mallorca where she reached the quarters before losing in straight sets to Belinda Bencic (6-2 6-2). After her recent run in Spain, Anisimova goes up 1 place in the rankings to be the new world no.26.
