In the on-court interview after winning her first round match at the 2024 US Open against Amanda Anisimova, Zheng Qinwen discussed the challenges she faced during the game. She acknowledged Anisimova’s aggressive play and her own struggles with adapting to her opponent’s strong inside-out shots and first serve.
However, in the second set, Zheng found her rhythm and became more consistent with her shots. She also congratulated Anisimova for her impressive performance and expressed her excitement about making history for her country by winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Despite not having her gold medal with her, Zheng reflected on the mental strength required to push through multiple matches in a row.
Moving forward, she focused on her performance at the US Open and thanked her supporters for coming out to cheer her on.
