The 24-time major winner Novak Djokovic has discussed his thoughts on the controversy surrounding the Cincinnati Masters, asserting that it is unlikely for this to occur again. After winning the Olympic gold medal, Djokovic made the decision not to play in Cincinnati this week. The Serbian will next compete at the US Open.

The 37-year-old seems to be keeping up with the events at the Masters 1000 event, even though he was not present for the Friday altercation between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jack Draper.

The ball seemed to have been hit into the ground by Draper on match point before it crossed the net, but the umpire missed this and gave the British player the point. Auger-Aliassime was obviously very frustrated by this; after the game, he called it a terrible situation and received a lot of support from other players.

And now, in a social media post, Djokovic has commented on the incident, urging the introduction of video replays to the tours.

Djokovic wrote on X: It’s embarrassing that we don’t have video replays of these kinds of situations on the court. What’s even more ridiculous is that we don’t have a rule in place that would allow chair umpires to change the original call based on the video review that happens off the court! Everyone who watches TV sees what happened on the replay, yet the players on the court are kept in the dark, not knowing what the outcome is. We have Hawkeye for line calls; we live in the technologically advanced 21st century! Please, respective tours, make sure this nonsense never happens again.”
