OLYMPICS. Nadal will be the flag bearer for Spain

Rafael Nadal has been designed to be the flag bearer for his country for the 2nd consecutive time. Rafa was chosen already 4 years ago to represent Spain in London, but eventually he couldn’t make it because of an injury; Rafa’s dear friend and basketball star Paul Gasol took Nadal’s place.

Nadal. Missing London was terrible…

Rafa commented “For me it was an amazing feeling when I was told I would carry [the flag] in 2012, It was terrible news when I had to pull out of London. I’ve missed Grand Slams and Davis Cups in my career but the toughest thing was the 2012 Olympics.”

… why winning the Olympics is tougher than winning a slam

Then Rafa added “There’s no doubt the Olympic Games is the toughest tournament to win in the world of tennis because you have only one, two, maybe three opportunities in your career. In Slams you have maybe 50. In Olympics everything has to be right in that single week.”

Designing Rafa as the flag bearer was also the proper answer to the silly doping allegations against Nadal.
