Tsonga upsets Federer

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga surprises everyone after defeating Roger Federer in the Monte Carlo quarters. Roger looked to be in firm control of the match after winning the first set 6-3. The Frenchman managed to make it even to grab second set 6-2 without battling too much; the encounter went to the 3rd set and, finally, it was Federer to melt at the very end to concede a decisive break in the 11th game. The Swiss had a chance to break back in the last game when Tsonga was extremely nervous; eventually the Frenchman recovered form a 0-30 deficit to win the match 3-6 6-2 7-5 after 2 hours and 6 minutes.

Tsonga. Why I defetead Roger

The Frenchman commented “I was expecting a difficult match, and that is exactly what happened. He was very reactive; he was running well. From the start, I thought he was very fast. But I was able to turn it around. He dropped his level a little bit and I was able to come back into the match and end up winning. It’s good for me.”

The semi vs. Monfils

Jo-Wilfried will face his dear friend Gael Monfils in the semi. The head to head is 4-2 for Tsonga; they have never played each other on clay courts in official matches.
