Alcaraz About Nadal's Partnership: People Want Us To Win The Gold

Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal have successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Their 6-4, 6-7, 10-2 victory over the Netherlands pair Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof highlighted the growing chemistry between the two Spanish tennis stars.

Alcaraz expressed satisfaction with their improved performance compared to their first match. “I think we played at a very high level, much better than the first day in terms of how we positioned ourselves at the net. It was normal to start a little hesitant and as we give ourselves opportunities to continue advancing, we will go further,” Alcaraz stated.

He acknowledged the high expectations from fans but emphasized their focus on playing without letting the pressure affect them. “People obviously want us to win gold in doubles, but that’s normal. We try not to think too much about it, about the pressure or that we have the obligation to do it,” Alcaraz remarked. He added, “Obviously, you don’t win doubles just by being a name, so anything can happen.”

Alcaraz and Nadal, two of the most prominent names in tennis, are striving to secure an Olympic gold medal, but they remain aware of the challenges and unpredictability inherent in the sport.
