Funny Novak Djokovic Responds To Andy Murray Saying They're 'lovers'

In a humorous exchange on social media, Novak Djokovic has playfully declined Andy Murray’s joking suggestion that they might be “lovers.” The two tennis greats, who have shared a long-standing rivalry and friendship, are currently competing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Ahead of his first match, Murray posted a series of nostalgic images on Instagram, reflecting on their shared moments over the years. He wrote: “Rivals, doubles partners, friends, and lovers? Thanks for the 25 years of competition, @djokernole, and good luck for the rest of your career.” The post included a note to “see slide 3,” which showed the pair in a close moment.

Djokovic responded on his Instagram story, humorously declining the “lover” suggestion: “Andy, I loved playing against you, playing doubles together and sharing some great memories as friends. I will ‘pass’ on being lover. I hope you understand. What an amazing career, legendary. Thank you for inspiring all of us players and many people all over the world.”

Djokovic recently secured a victory over Australian player Matthew Ebden, while Murray is set to team up with Dan Evans for a doubles match against Japan’s Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori. Reflecting on Murray’s illustrious career, Djokovic expressed admiration and gratitude: “He has been a legend. He is a legend of our sport. He has been an incredibly important player for tennis, globally.”
