Carlos Alcaraz, fresh off his Wimbledon triumph, shared his thoughts and future plans in an exclusive interview with Onda Regional. Reflecting on his journey, the two-time Grand Slam champion remarked, “Tennis is a fair sport. If you have a passion for it, it eventually rewards you. I went through a rough patch a few months ago, and now I’m in a great moment. It was about waiting and believing in myself.”
Following his victories at Roland Garros and Wimbledon this year, Alcaraz is now setting his sights on the Olympics. “I’ll take a few days to rest in Murcia, which I deserve to recharge. But in 2-3 days, I need to get back to training. The Paris Olympics excite me, and I’m aiming for the gold, both in singles and doubles, partnering with Rafa Nadal,” Alcaraz shared with enthusiasm.
He also praised fellow player Jannik Sinner, saying, “He is the most consistent. He has won a Grand Slam and several Masters 1000 titles. Except for Wimbledon, he always makes at least the semifinals. I believe he deserves to remain number one. We’ll see what happens by the end of the year and if I can climb higher.” Currently, Sinner leads with 9,570 points, followed by Djokovic with 8,460 and Alcaraz with 8,130.
