Lorenzo Musetti, the Italian tennis star, shared a heartfelt reflection on his recent life changes and triumphs following his impressive victory to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals. In an emotional on-court interview, Musetti opened up about the significant personal experiences he has encountered over the past year, including the pregnancy of his girlfriend and the birth of their son.
“It’s been almost a year, really challenging with a lot of new experiences with the pregnancy of my girlfriend, and becoming a father. A lot of things happened and changed,” Musetti said. “I needed more time to find a balance on everything.”
Musetti’s journey to the quarterfinals included a hard-fought match against the powerful server Mpetshi Perricard, who had accumulated an impressive 105 aces in three victories to reach the fourth round. Musetti needed some time to adapt to his opponent’s formidable serve, which proved to be a significant challenge.
“Such a big day for me. I’m really happy and proud of this win against a really tough opponent. I struggled a little bit at the beginning — huge serve,” Musetti remarked. “You can imagine how tough it is to return on that. I’m a little bit shaking still.”
Despite the initial struggles, Musetti managed to convert five out of 15 break point opportunities, showcasing his resilience and determination. His ability to overcome both personal and professional challenges has been a testament to his growth as both a player and a person.

Ranked no.25, Musetti played his last match on the 8th of July when he beat world no.58 Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 4-6 6-3 6-3 6-2 in the 4th round in Wimbledon (draw).
