Just moments after her devastating Wimbledon loss, British tennis player Katie Boulter received some great advice from her boyfriend, Alex de Minaur. At SW19, Boulter played her countrywoman, Harriet Dart. She gave up several match points before falling short in a final set tie-break, 10-8.
The 27-year-old Boulter got off to a great start by winning the first set 6-4, but Dart rallied well to take the second set 6-1. When it came down to a tiebreak in the final set, Boulter was just a touch away from winning, and Dart started crying after falling behind 6-2.
But Dart maintained her poise to win eight of the following ten points and pull off an incredible comeback triumph at Boulter’s cost. After witnessing the victory slip away, Boulter shared insightful advice from her partner, De Minaur, that seemed to cheer her up.
After Boulter lost to Dart at Wimbledon, she claims de Minaur taught her that one match does not define her career. Boulter said in an interview: “One match doesn’t define my career. That’s the first thing he said to me when I got off the court. He knows what he’s talking about. It’s not his first rodeo. He’s been through it all before, and I’m lucky to have that support.”
