Why Kyrgios jokingly said to Djokovic that he didn’t like him because of Alcaraz

Nick Kyrgios told Novak Djokovic that he didn't like him while providing live coverage of Cameron Norrie vs. Jack Draper at Wimbledon. This year, the Australian tennis player shared additional details regarding his bond with the Serb in another interview.

Djokovic And Kyrgios

During his live coverage of Cameron Norrie vs. Jack Draper at Wimbledon, Nick Kyrgios said to Novak Djokovic that he didn’t like him after the Serb lost to Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon. In another interview this year, the Australian tennis player revealed more about his friendship with the Serb.

Despite their initial rivalry, Kyrgios stood up for Djokovic after he was expelled from Australia in 2021. Since then, they’ve developed a growing bromance, although the rain caused them to postpone their Wednesday practice at Wimbledon.

In a playful jab at the Serb, Kyrgios said that Djokovic allowed Alcaraz to defeat him in the thrilling five-setter that was the 2023 Wimbledon final.

Kyrgios wished the 37-year-old had been given the same opportunity to experience success when they squared off in the 2021 Wimbledon final.

Kyrgios said in a light way: “I still don’t like you, Novak, if you’re listening. You gave Carlos one year but you didn’t give me one. It’s still one of the best matches I’ve watched. One of the only ones from start to finish.”
