British former US Open champion Emma Raducanu is widely known for her impressive achievements on the tennis court, but she also holds a deep affection for her family, especially her mother. This fondness was recently highlighted in a charming video with podcast host Roman Kemp, part of Vodafone UK’s promotion, where Raducanu’s best friend, Shauna, shared insights about the tennis star’s cherished possessions and inspirations.
In the video, Kemp asked Shauna to identify Raducanu’s most prized possession. With careful thought, Shauna replied, “The pearl bracelet that your mom got you. Yeah, is it that one?” Raducanu’s smile confirmed this, showcasing her strong emotional bond with her mother.
Raducanu has often credited her parents for her success, particularly her mother for instilling a strong work ethic in her. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Raducanu revealed, “It has to be my mum. Her work ethic is something that she’s instilled in me from a young age; I definitely got that from her. She’s very strong and she is great at reading people, which I’ve also picked from her.”
One of Raducanu’s life mottos, inspired by her mother, is a Chinese saying: “一步一步走,” which translates to “go step by step.” She explained, “When tasks or things seem daunting at first or like a big mountain, if you go step by step and look at the first thing in front of you, then hopefully things, over time, they aren’t as scary and difficult.”

Selected as one of the 14 wildcards for Wimbledon, she carries the values and lessons from her parents onto the prestigious courts. This strong familial foundation, coupled with her innate talent, promises to propel Raducanu further in her tennis career.
