Tough stuff for Serena Williams that remains titles since the Australian Open that she conquered back in 2017.
Serena was opposed to the world no.35 Sofia Kenin that tried in vain to practice with the former world no.1 in Paris.
The match
Serena looked well set at the very beginning after she conquered a 2-1 lead. However, it was Kenin to conquer the following 7 games to lead 6-2 2-0. Serena managed to recover that break (3-3), but eventually the 20-year-old conquered the decisive break in the 11th game before winning the encounter 6-2 7-5 in 92 minutes.
Sofia will face Ashleigh Barty for a place in the quarters. The head to head is 2-0 for the Australian.
In only her second main draw appearance in Paris, @SofiaKenin takes out 3x Champion Serena Williams 6-2 7-5.
