Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina are inseparable. They had the audacious idea to make their relationship pretty public instead of going for the “discrete way.”
The Frenchman and the Ukrainian have also started a new Instagram account called GEMS Life (Gael Elina Monfils Svitolina) that they use to share part of their life.
How Monfils suggested the name GEMS
During a recent interview, Alina shared how the name GEMS was chosen to comment
“It’s been fun so far. We like to share, you know to share with the fans. It’s important because I think you know people don’t see what’s going on behind the court.
About the name
It was actually was his idea to put G.E.M.S. because I didn’t even think about it, but he saw it somewhere or you know, and then we just come up with this.
He just did it like so easy, and I was like ‘G.E.M.S? What is G.E.M.S?’ like everyone else was like what is G.E.M.S.? And so then it came up like this and then we put it together G.E.M.S.Life. So yeah, it just came up like that.
And so it started as something like let’s share another part of our lives and now it’s become this thing.
We like to share we like to you know to get to make fun of each other.
It’s important to be there for each other and so far it’s been great, and I really enjoy seeing him next to me and I think for him it’s the same so it’s really good.”
