Nadal beats Maden in 2nd round in Paris

Rafael Nadal continued with his good show today and beat German qualifier Yannick Maden to reach the 3rd round of the French Open.

The world no.2 was all at ease and graceful on Court Suzanne Lenglen and looked well on his way for his 12th French Open title.

The Match

In the first two sets, Nadal didn’t face a break point. He broke the serve of Maden twice in the first set to win it 6-1, and in the 2nd set, he again broke the German twice to win the set 6-2.

The third set was more competitive with both Nadal and Maden breaking each other twice to level at 4-4. In the next two games, the world no.2 broke once more and held his serve to win the set 6-4.

The 11 times French Open champion won the match 6-1 6-2 6-4 in 2 hours and 9 minutes.

After the match the Spaniard commented:

“I think it was a good match for the first two sets. Not unbelievable, but 6-1, 6-2, with positive feelings. Then in the third, being honest, I think I lost a little bit concentration and intensity. And then all the match became difficult, that’s just about concentration, my feeling, because the feeling on the match had been positive. Positive thing is every time that I had the mistake, then I had the break again, and that’s the good news.”

The next match of the Spaniard will be against Belgian David Goffin.
