What went wrong with Serena. KNEE INJURY

Serena Williams didn’t start the 2016 in the best possible way to retire from the Hopman Cup because of a knee injury.

It’s Serena’s coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, to explain what’s going on.

She has an injection every 6 months

Patrick explained that Serena has been having an injection every 6 months because of the wear and tear of her cartilages, but after last injection Serena’s knee got inflamed “It’s important now to take the right decisions, because it’s not only the Australian Open that’s important, it’s all the preparations you do beforehand.

Serena has to be able to run and do everything necessary to be ready, which she cannot do at the moment.”

Serena: I need to rest

The world no.1 commented “I’ve been training really hard during the off-season, really pushing myself beyond the limits. I just think a day off or two will make a world of difference.”

Let’s hope to see Serena to defend her title in Melbourne.
