Emma Raducanu asserted that women tend to be technically better than men in the game of tennis before criticizing the disparity in prize money between the two tours as huge and unfair.
This week’s Italian Open, which pays £550,000 to its female winner and approximately £757,000 to its male winner, is more in line with the year-round schedule than the French Open, which begins in a week and will award equal sums to both sexes.
Raducanu expressed her thoughts about it and said: “A lot of women’s players are technically better. They rely on speed, agility and brains rather than brute strength. The prize money gap is huge on the ATP tour, which I don’t necessarily think is fair, but equally playing three sets in the slams is a lot better than the men’s five, which is brutal.”
After barely missing out on straight into the main draw, Raducanu is anticipated to play at the French Open qualifying event the following week. After playing six matches in 11 days, she said she was fatigued and decided to take a break from competition for nearly four weeks.
