On Wednesday, Alexander Zverev reached his 18th Masters semifinal in Rome, but not before suffering a frightening tumble that brought back memories of the awful injury he sustained at the French Open two years before.

Zverev Plays A Shot

On Wednesday, Alexander Zverev advanced to his 18th Masters semifinal in Rome, but not before suffering a concerning fall that brought back memories of the horrific injury he sustained at the French Open two years prior.

Zverev defeated Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-3, to advance to the final four. Alejandro Tabilo, who stunned Novak Djokovic earlier in the tournament, will take on Zverev. In the third match at the Foro Italico, Zverev slipped and fell onto his front side on the clay, giving him cause for concern.

Zverev needed treatment from the tournament physiotherapist after he sliced his left wrist and a finger during the tumble, and he had to wait to resume play.

Zverev expressed his thoughts about his injury and said: “Taylor has been one of the best players on clay this year. To have a win like that is great for me, especially after the fall. I still have a little bit of pain, so once the adrenaline settles, I’m going to check out what it is tomorrow. But happy with the win.”
