Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu is preparing to return to the court. The tennis star will compete in the WTA 250 in Rabat in May, marking her competitive return after being out of the game since August of last year due to a back problem.
Despite her full recovery, she acknowledges that she still has some marks from this difficult time, as she revealed in an interview.
She expressed her thoughts about it and said: “I’m feeling really good and I’ll be ready to play Rabat, which is in about two weeks. That’s very exciting for me, I’ve been training for the past three months. The longest pre-season I’ve had. I feel like every time I’ve been injured, I keep saying that I’ve had a long pre-season as my longest pre-season but this one has topped them all. I mean, three months is crazy.”
Andreescu has had to battle many injuries over the years, so returning to the court has not been easy.
She added: “I have the opportunity to use my protective ranking, which is used if you’re gone from the sport due to injury or pregnancy. I’ve been off for, I guess, eight months now so I’m able to use that. My protected ranking would be in the 60s or low 60s so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to play.”

Now ranked no.225, the Canadian played her last match on the 8th of August 2023 when she lost to world no.116 Camila Giorgi 6-3 6-2 in the 1st round in Montreal (draw).
This season Andreescu has achieved a 15-16 record.
