If all goes according to plan, Carlos Alcaraz claims he and his great colleague Rafael Nadal will create a dream combo to compete in the men’s doubles at the Olympics in Paris later this year.
The July 27–August 4 tennis event is held in Roland Garros, home of a record-breaking 14 French Open singles victories for Rafael Nadal, who will turn 38 by then.
Alcaraz revealed he and Nadal had discussed working together in Paris after making it to the Madrid Open quarterfinals.
Alcaraz expressed his thoughts about it and said: “If everything goes according to plan, as I have already said, we will play the doubles together at the Olympics. But there is a long way to go until it gets underway.”
Alcaraz has returned to Madrid after his recovery from an arm injury, and Nadal has also been plagued by injuries for the last few years.
Alcaraz further said: “We have said how wonderful it would be to play a tournament before the Olympics. But that will be difficult. On clay, the next two tournaments are Rome and Roland Garros, which are hugely important to both of us in terms of the singles. Considering we are not at our physical peak, it will be tough to play both a tournament and the Olympics.”
