For Andrey Rublev, winning two straight wins hasn’t been a significant accomplishment since making his Top 10 debut four years ago.

While acknowledging that time is not on his side, 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal expressed his desire to continue playing long enough for his son to remember him on the court.

The 37-year-old Spaniard, who has stated that he plans to retire after the 2024 season, made his competitive comeback in Brisbane in January after a nearly year-long absence due to a hip flexor injury.

At the Madrid Open, Nadal turned back time to defeat Alex de Minaur in a dramatic and emotional match.

Recently, Rublev expressed his sadness for Nadal playing his last run in Madrid. He expressed his thoughts about it and said: “It’s tough to believe it might be Rafa’s last Madrid or RG; so many times he’s proven those who said Rafa is done were wrong. I’m not even going to be surprised if he wins a couple more Slams & Masters, and if he wins Slams, I don’t think he will stop.”
