Apostolos Tsitsipas, Stefanos Tsitsipas’ father, stated that he has always believed his son would perform well at the highest level of men’s tennis. Apostolos said this after Tsitsipas’ victory on Sunday in the men’s singles division of the Monte-Carlo Masters.

In the final match, Tsitsipas overcame Casper Ruud 6-1, 6-4 with to an outstanding second serve. To win the title, he broke Ruud four times during the match and kept up a 70 per cent conversion rate on his second serve.

After triumphs in 2021 and 2022, this was the Greek’s third title at the Monte-Carlo Country Club. He also moved up five spots to take the seventh slot in the ATP singles rankings, regaining his spot among the top 10.

His father and coach Apostolos, who had supported him continuously from the stands for the last seven days, witnessed the moment of his glory with him. After the game, Apostolos also took a seat for an interview with the media, during which he discussed his energetic son.

Apostolos said: “I never had a doubt he [Stefanos Tsitsipas] would play this level. For sure never had a doubt. But, he’s a dreamer. I could say that also he’s still young in his soul, in his mind. As every young person, you know, they need to believe in life, they need to believe in the targets they set. That’s why we are there, to remind them that they deserve to be whatever they are.”
