At the Monte Carlo Masters, the passionate Italian Jannik Sinner smashed Sebastian Korda 6-1 6-2 to kick off his clay-court season in an outstanding way.
Sinner, who has previously dominated this season in Australia, Rotterdam, and Miami on hard courts, excelled in every facet of his game on the red clay, earning 95% (20/21) of the points behind his opening serve to progress after 76 minutes.
Sinner was so happy after the win and expressed his thoughts about it in the post-match interview: “I think me and Sebi have similar game styles, so we are not playing like the classic clay-court specialists, we like to play quite flat. But I moved quite well in these conditions. Every year it is tough to come here and perform well but I am happy with the performance. Let’s see what is coming in the next round, it is always great to be back here.”
