Jannik Sinner triumphed as the winner of the 2024 Miami Open, and Martina Navratilova just shared her thoughts on whether Sinner is the best player in the world.

At the Miami 1000 competition, Sinner defeated Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 6-1 in just one hour and fourteen minutes. The victory was the Italian’s first trophy in Miami, his third of the year, and his second overall ATP Masters 1000 title.

Navratilova was asked if Sinner was the finest player in the world right now during an interview after his victory at the Miami Open.

In response, she said that Sinner has demonstrated exceptional consistency and skill on the ATP Tour, which provides him a major advantage over his opponents. She also mentioned Novak Djokovic’s absence from the competition.

Navratilova said: “Well, Novak Djokovic is not playing unfortunately for us. Yes, he’s [Sinner] been the most consistent and his average today is better than everybody else’s average at the moment. He’s taken it to a whole new level.”

The former world No. 1 also added that Sinner has a lot of confidence and peace of mind on the court despite a hard time in his career.

She added: “So it gives him a lot of peace of mind because he knows he doesn’t have to play out of his socks. He does not have to redline anything to win matches, the other guys are the ones that have to redline. So that gives you a lot of confidence.”
