Berdych wins Stockholm for the 3rd consecutive time

Tomas Berdych has a love affair with Stockholm. The Czech has won 12 titles in his career and 3 of them come from Stockholm (2013, 2014 and 2015).

This year Tomas had to play Jack Sock in the final. The American had a great run in this tournament to beat Simon in the quarters and Gasquet in the semis and both in straight sets, so a tough battle was at the horizon.

Berdych had to come from behind in the final as he was broken in the 5th game of the opener, but eventually Sock failed to serve out the set (5-4) and Tomas won the following breaker at 1. In the second set the American was broken a couple of times without ever troubling Tomas’ serve. The final result was 7-6 (1) 6-2. Match Stats.

Tomas commented “I’ve definitely built up a good history here, which always helps. The tournament does a really good job taking care of us, making us feel at home. Sometimes you find a place in the world that suits you well, and it’s the case here. I’m glad to be able to add to my titles here.”
