Emma Raducanu of Britain has been handed a wildcard for Indian Wells the following week. After an eight-month injury layoff, the 21-year-old is back on the scene and currently ranks 252nd in the world. Of the four Grand Slam competitions, the hard court event is the largest; it begins on Wednesday.
Raducanu, who made waves at the US Open in 2021 with an incredible victory, is ranked too low to gain direct entry into the top WTA events.
However, Raducanu has not been permitted to enter the Indian Wells main draw straight away due to the rule, which permits players to freeze their ranking if they miss six months or more of action.
In addition, she has been granted a wildcard to compete in the Miami Open, which begins on March 17. The 21-year-old has headed to Los Angeles to compete in the prestigious Masters 1000 event, which gets underway next week, where she made it to the fourth round the previous year.
Recently, Raducanu was spotted enjoying quality time in Los Angeles ahead of her Indian Wells event.
