Iga Swiatek, Marketa Vondrousova, and Coco Gauff, three of the 2023 Grand Slam winners, have all received nominations for the 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards.
Since 2001, the Laureus World Sports Awards have been a global event held every year to recognize the best athletes in a wide range of sports. In addition to Vondrousova and Gauff on the ballots for World Comeback of the Year and World Breakthrough of the Year, respectively, Swiatek is one of six contenders for World Sportswoman of the Year, her second consecutive nomination for the title.
Gauff became the youngest American woman to win a Grand Slam event at home since Serena Williams triumphed at the US Open. Along with swimmer Qin Haiyang and athlete Josh Kerr, she is nominated for Breakthrough of the Year alongside soccer players Jude Bellingham, Linda Caicedo, and Salma Paralluelo.
Vondrousova became the first woman unseeded to win Wimbledon in the Open Era after recovering from wrist surgery in 2022.
At the age of 22, @iga_swiatek won the French Open for the third time in 2023. The title added to her previous victories at @rolandgarros (2020 and 2022) and to her @usopen title (2022).
